

Equipment
Borrowing Policy
Equipment may be borrowed:
- by any one in the Faculty of Education; including students, faculty
(tenure and sessional), other instructors and staff.
- priority is for instruction, especially in-class use.
- for up to one week; except for cameras
which may be borrowed up to the morning of the next business day;
and computers and data projectors which are normally borrowed for
the duration of the class only.
In case of significant demand, borrowing times may be shortened.
To borrow equipment, appropriate id must be shown:
- students must show a valid UBC student
card
- Education faculty or staff must show one of the following
and be on the list of valid people supplied by the Dean's Office
- valid faculty UBC library card or
- one of the following photo id
- BC Drivers License
- BC ID Card
- Passport
- Non-Education instructors may
only borrow equipment for the time they are teaching in Scarfe;
may not borrow computers, cameras or SMART Boards and must show
one of the following:
- valid UBC faculty member Library card
or
- having prearranged their credentials, one of the following
photo id
- BC Drivers License
- BC ID Card
- Passport
Borrowers are responsible for loss or damage to equipment.
Equipment that is not picked up within an hour of the booked time may be loaned
to other users.
Borrowing privileges may be suspended due to the following or other abuses:
- repeatedly not picking up booked equipment
- not returning equipment on time
- not returning equipment in complete or good condition
As available, equipment may be borrowed for:
- in-class instruction in Scarfe by other Faculties (excluding computers
and cameras)
- practicum use
- research
and other academic activities
- longer time periods
