Account Holders - Accessing Interchange - Students
General
Faculty and staff in the Faculty of Education are entitled to an Interchange
account through the University's Internet for All (IfA) program. Interchange
provides email and dial-in access. The IfA program supplies users with
an account and 5 hours of
telephone dial-in access. There is no time limit on access from computers
connected to the campus backbone (such as offices, labs and campus
wireless).
Students are eligible for a Netinfo
account provided by UBC's ITServices
and the Library.
To apply for an Interchange account, complete an Interchange
Application form and return it to C.M.S. The form is available
on-line for fill-in/printing, or users may pick up copies in C.M.S.
Tenured/tenure track and sessional faculty may apply for additional dial-in.
Contact C.M.S. for more information (cms.educ@ubc.ca,
604-822-5248)
More information on Interchange and Netinfo can be found at www.it.ubc.ca/accounts/interchange.html.
Existing Account holders
Interchange accounts are normally created for a year at a time. C.M.S.
will automatically renew tenure track faculty and full-time staff accounts;
sometime before your account expires, you should receive e-mail notification
of the renewal and your next expiry date. If you are a sessional faculty
it is necessary to fill out an Interchange Application
form with a signature from your department head.
The Interchange web page www.it.ubc.ca/accounts/interchange.html allows Interchange users to check and change the options on their accounts
(passwords, vacation messages, etc.)
Accessing Interchange
Interchange can be accessed through the UBCNet
Campus Network or via dial-in to 604-822-1331.
Interchange email can be accessed via a client program such as Eudora
or via a web interface at my.ubc.ca. Setup
information for various client applications is available at www.it.ubc.ca/email/ubcemail/setupdocs.html.
Student Access
The UBC Library
provides students with a Netinfo
account (for free). Registered UBC Students can sign up for Netinfo at
www.it.ubc.ca/accounts/interchange.html.
Netinfo is a subset of Interchange with most of its features. Students
may also purchase Interchange accounts. Contact ITServices
for more information
